Getting Russian tourist visa
/ News / Articles / Main page /
If you want to visit Russia, you will have to follow the whole process of getting necessary documents and your Russian visa.
First of all, you will need a tourist invitation - that means that somebody invited you to visit the Russian Federation. It could be a person (your relative or friend) or a tourist company. For issuing a private invitation - from a friend of yours - he or she should go to the local OVIR (passport service), give in all the necessary papers and wait for invitation to be done. Frankly speaking, it may take about a month! But maybe it is worth waiting because private invitation (and then private visa to Russia) can be given for up to 3 months.
The easiest way to get a visa...
is to address a tour company and make tourist invitation with them. This very company should have its reference number registered in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. It is your right to ask for this certificate at the company office, just to be sure that everything will go the right way.
Tourist invitation (or visa support) is maximum given for 30 days. It can be issued from 5 min up to couple of days, depends on the company service. So, after you have your invitation you can obtain your Russian visa at the local Consulate or Embassy in your country.
